Zoe and I Camping Algonquin Park 2025

Zoe and I went camping in Algonquin Park in July 2025

Sunday July 13 th 2025

We woke up the next morning and had breakfast and packed up for the paddle back to Achray. The packign was unevenful and took us about an hour or so. The water was calm and I knew the wind starts to pick up in the later morning so i wanted to avoid the westerly breezes for our return trip.

Trip back across Stratton Lake

This time we made a beeline straight for the other side of stratton and we had company was other groups of campers passed us on their way to our destination. The Stratton - Gran Lake access point which is a small river had a very strong current for the time of year (due to high water levels) and when we got to it, it took everything from zoe and I to make it to the portage. Previous to this i was happy to paddle solo with Zoe helping out, but for this I was glad she was able to lllput everything into it

Zoe and turtle after the portage into Grand Lake

The portage didn't take too long and we were back on Grand Lake. Zoe spotted a turtle as we rounded into Grand Lake and snapped a phote with her Fiji Film Camera. As we passed by the canoe campsites on the bottom of Grand lake i realized that Alex and I could easily camp here for our trip in the following days. We had planned to do the Barron Canyon, but i realized that just canoeing out to a spot and enjoying the swimming and weather was just as nice, if not nicer than completing portage after portage

After we landed at Achray, Zoe wandered off to find a 'real' bathroom, and i got the van then unloaded the boat. After this we hopped in the van and on the way out jstioped at the PArk Office so Zoe could get a Pin/Patch she had eyed on the way in. We dropped off our rental gear back at the outfitters and headed home
